There is no catch. If you are willing to take a few minutes to search our database of apartment listings, you can save thousands of dollars by eliminating the need for a broker by working with WeTheRenters!
If you find an apartment that you like and would like to submit an application or contact the owner or property manager with any questions, simply pay the $49.95 90-day membership fee. You will also have unlimited access to the contact information of any of the other apartment listings should you decide to continue looking or contact multiple owners/managers.
Once you have paid your 90-day membership fee, you will have access to the contact information of the apartment owner/manager for every listing on our site..
We are constantly uploading new apartment listings as they become available. Even if you do not find an apartment that meets your exact parameters, you will have a total of 90-days to continue looking. Apartment listings are updated at least once a week, in many cases every day or two.
Make sure you have all of the necessary paperwork needed to apply for an apartment before you begin searching!
More than 90% of all property managers and owners require extensive paperwork in order to put in an application. You will need to prove that you make more than 40 times
the monthly rent which means that if the apartment rents for $2000/month you need to prove the household income to be over $80,000/year.
If you are a student, are not a citizen of the U.S., or can't prove that you make more than 40 times the monthly rent, then chances are you will need a guarantor. Check
with the property manager or owner of the apartment you are interested in for their policies on guarantors as they are not universal. For the most part, property
managers and owners will require the paperwork necessary to prove that your guarantor makes 90 times the monthly rent in annual salary, and will require the said
guarantor to either sign a guarantor agreement, a lease, or both.
In all real estate transactions there is an old saying, it goes, "Time kills deals." If you have all of this paperwork ready, in a folder, before you look at
the apartment, it greatly increases your chances of getting that apartment. Most landlords, owners, and property managers require all or most of the following
paperwork:
1. Driver's license, State ID, or Passport
2. Current Bank Statement
3. Paycheck stubs (Last 3)
4. First 2 pages of your most recent tax return
5. Letter of employment from current employer stating position, salary, how long you have held position.
6. Letter of reference from previous landlord(not always required but helpful)
